At the installation site, various network setups are in operation to retrieve meter data from individual meters and transmit it to the backend platform.

A wired RS485 protocol is employed to gather data from all energy meters connected to a single panel. The number of meters typically varies from four to twelve, depending on the number of dwelling units per floor. The adaptor collects data from each RS485 network at predefined intervals. Multiple such wired RS485 networks function within a building or tower. The adaptors utilize RF networks for further communication.

Multiple adaptors create a network mesh operating on RF 865 MHz bands. Depending on the layout of the premises and the number of meters to be managed, there may be one or more RF networks configured and implemented per premises. These networks communicate independently with no interference between them. Each
RF network is overseen by a Gateway. Data from an RF network is consolidated on the Gateway managing that network and subsequently transmitted to the backend platform through a secure GPRS private APN.

The collected data is processed to calculate consumption for each meter and adjust the individual prepaid balance accordingly. When a consumer's balance falls below a specified minimum, the consumer is alerted to recharge using either offline or online methods. If the balance drops below the cutoff threshold, the supply is disconnected and restored once the balance is replenished. All data is readily accessible to stakeholders at any given time.
